Enjoying Luz Beach from the Promenade If you hire a car you can also explore the wonderful coastline  to the west where there are numerous  sandy beaches & coves, towering cliffs and small fishing villages.    The Serra de Monchique, the Algarve's natural boundary to the north has an abundance of pine, eucalyptus, and cork oak forest and the ancient spa town of Monchique has traditional crafts, foods and markets and wonderful views from the mountains  down to the fabulous Algarve coastline.    Promenade from village square to the beach
