Praia da Luz is a quiet village with family-friendly atmosphere ~ it offers a wide range of facilities, including small shops, supermarkets, Bank, Post Office, health spas, medical & dental clinics and a great choice of Restaurants/Bars. 

Praia is the Portuguese word for Beach and the sheltered safe sandy Blue Flag Beach at Luz offers dolphin & cave boat trips, all kinds of watersports, tuition and Junior Watersports Days.

There are numerous beautiful sandy beaches, coves and fishing villages along the coast to the West towards Sagres and Cape St. Vincent, the most Westerly point in Europe.  Northwards are the mountains of Sierra de Monchique with pretty mountain villages and passes, wooded hills and wonderful views of the whole south east coastline.  The Spa town of Monchique is famous for its mineral waters and the spectacular views from the mountain range of the same name.   

The beautiful town of Lagos, 4 Km from Praia da Luz, is full of character with its old city walls and myriad of cobbled streets.

Lagos has a large marina and offers a super choice of everything from ancient buildings and historic ruins to shopping, restaurants, nightlife, zoo, boat trips for whale/dolphin watching. 

There is a regular bus service between Lagos, Luz and Burgau

 

Faro Airport is a one hour's drive from Praia da Luz, along the A22 motorway.

Portugal is in the same Time Zone as Britain and Ireland - so there is no time change when travelling between U.K./Ireland and Portugal !
